About: Computing Resources
High Performance Computing
The TAPoR group, in collaboration with UNB's Department of Mechanical Engineering, is pleased to offer the following high performance computing resources:
1. Linux Cluster
The Linux cluster, chorus, consists of 80 Sun V60 servers (160 processors total), with a fast dual-path Gigabit Ethernet interconnect. Redhat 8.0 is installed on the cluster, with the Portland Group CDK providing high performance compilers for C, C++, and Fortran 77/90. Sun Grid Engine is used for job scheduling. Each node includes:
- Dual 2.8 GHz Xeon processors with Hyperthreading technology
- 2 to 3 GB of memory per node
- 2 x 36 GB 10,000 RPM SCSI disk drives
2. Symmetric MultiProcessor (SMP)
The symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) quartet consists of a 4 processor, 64-bit V880 server. Solaris 8 is installed on the SMP, along with the Sun Java System Application toolset, providing a wide range of services, including portal technologies. With 16 GB of globally accessible memory, it will be used to tackle problems requiring huge amounts of memory, including text analysis problems. The SunFire V880 includes:
- Quad 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC III Cu processors
- 16 GB of main memory
- 6 x 72 GB 10,000 RPM SCSI disk drives
As well, a high end 2.6 TB storage array will be attached to the cluster and SMP.
